SWA Model Display at the Burledon Brickworks, 10th May 2009

The display was put on at the invitation of Bursledon Brickworks Museum’s Hamble Valley Model Show.  We provided one of two Model Warship displays, the other being  Phil Warren’s Matchstick fleet..  A wide range of other models and crafts were on display with an enormous (1/6th scale I believe) Model of an Oil Rig made of matches even the table it sat on was made of matches!!  As usual full size Steam Traction Engines and Road Rollers were wandering about outside.  Fortunately the weather was co-operating.

We had six members attending -  Alan Hall, Ken Winter, Dave Reith, Peter Williams, Charles Davis and myself turning up with a total of 15 models.  I was pleased with our turn out as it takes time for a ‘new’ location for us to gain popularity and I guess not many people understand what a steam driven Brickworks really is.  We were housed in the top part of the Museum , and our display proved a popular stopping place for the visitors.  Fortunately, with the weather co-operating we had a good number of visitors and we enjoyed ourselves ( the Bacon rolls were very good!!).
