Northern Model Boat Show

The Northern Model Boat Show was held once again in the "Doncaster Aircraft Museum" on the 19th and 20th of June.

The hosts are "CADMA" and they run a very well organized show with prizes for various categories including best club stand. The show was well attended by the local clubs and traders. With the clubs and the traders spread amongst the aircraft it made it really interesting for everyone, and the show was well received by the public.

The SWA stand was attended by myself for the two days and went down well with the public. A mate of mine lent me two 1.24th scale models to help fill the display table.  The Vosper MTB is scratch built and is scaled up from a 1.72nd Airfix plastic kit. The Airsea rescue boat is based on a Deans Marine kit with some modifications to the finished model. These two models were made by Keith Jardine of the Nottingham Model Boat Club. Also on the SWA stand was my model of the Caldercraft Puffer "Northlight" and to my utter amazement

it won the prize for the best model in the show. I was totally shocked to beat Stan Reffins model of Gambia Bay, I personally think his model is Gold Medal standard.

There were some very nice warship models on various club stands with

two of the Alitera SI 00 class Schnellboot models with full R/C ,also on display. It really does look very impressive and value for money too. During the show a SWA member offered his apologies for not displaying with me, which was much appreciated by me.
