Report On Shepton Mallett Show

Over the weekend of 12th and 13th of April, we put on a display of models at the South West Model Engineering and Model Making exhibition held at the Royal Bath and West Show Ground, Shepton Mallet, Somerset.

We had a fine display of 17 models from 7 members. This is a new show and I think it will grow into a very large exhibition. In this first year there were model flying displays, nitro car racing, tanks, railways and of course model boats. We had a large lake to sail on, but on the first day the only man brave enough to try to launch from a very awkward position and put up with the wind and rain was Brian King.

On the second day the weather improved and a temporary launching stage was built, (we have asked for a more suitable launching platform next year)  so a few more of us managed to sail on this day.

We were also able to camp on site overnight with washing and toilet facilities being made available.

Thanks to Brian King, Gordon Buttress, Chris Hooper, Roy Skeats, Colin Watson and Charles Davis for their support over the weekend.
